Baldwin Hills Estates is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles in the South L.A. region of Los Angeles County. It contains Baldwin Village, Baldwin Vista, The Dons and Village Green. The neighboring communities are Culver City to the Northwest, Ladera Heights to the Southwest, and View Park to the South.
Baldwin Hills is commonly referred to as “The Dons (the names of all of the streets begin with Don after the formal title of all of Los Angeles’ original land holders) and it is home to 1,100 hundred homes. This tract was subdivided into a residential neighborhood after WWII and by the early 1960’s it was all developed. This five-square- mile area of unincorporated hillside boasts large homes with Mid-Century architecture and expansive views of the city. The interiors of these homes almost always have quintessential mid-century details like open floor plans, terrazzo entryways, soffit lighting and rock fireplaces. Homes are moderately priced from the $800,000s to well above $1,000,000.
Baldwin Hills is home to popular state park (Kenneth Hahn), which features a stocked lake, hiking trails with panoramic views; Japanese garden, play and picnic areas; grassy well-maintained soccer and baseball fields, walking and dog parks. Another notable attraction is the nearby Westfield Culver City Mall, the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook and Culver City stairs. This hidden gem has been a well-kept secret for decades; however, there is a renewed demand for the neighborhood and many of the new residents are young professionals working in creative fields such as advertising and commercial and film production. The proximity to the Expo Line and to the Hayden Tract, in addition to the architectural integrity of the neighborhood, is a big draw for these buyers. It’s within miles of the beach and centrally located for easy access to the Westside, Marina Del Rey, Playa Vista, Culver City, LAX and Downtown. Other notable attractions include the nearby Westfield Culver City Mall, the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook and Culver City stairs.
