Labor Day in Leimert Park
Leimert Park is well known for its tight knit community and rich tradition of culture and artistic expression, and one of the best events of the year, and THE largest Labor Day festival in LA, starts tomorrow!
The 10th Annual Leimert Park Village Heritage Festival is the signature event of The Leimert Park Village Merchant Association (L.P.V.A.A.M.F), whose mission is to promote culture, commerce and community. The festival brings together people of diverse cultures, races and lifestyles to encourage dialogue and a broadening of multi-cultural understanding. It will showcase a broad spectrum of creative works including fine arts, quality crafts, performing arts, and music, from artists all over the country and Africa.
An amazing line up of musicians are set for each day, starting at noon until 7pm with new artists each hour. All music is free and open for everyone to enjoy.
Interactive activities for all ages include doll making, mask making, jewelry making, t-shirt design, drum lessons, quilting, storytelling, photojournalism, healthy cooking demonstrations, writing contests, physical activities, workshops, speakers and competitions.
The festival is co-sponsored by Council member Herb Wesson, Jr., and supported by a number of local and cultural organizations because not only does it bring the community together, it generates meaningful revenue for local merchants, businesses and vendors.
