Top Neighborhood Hikes for the Whole Family
Winter in LA is one of the most beautiful times to explore local hiking trails, and what better activity to involve the entire family in your (new) exercise routine!
We can’t say enough about Kenneth Hahn State Park, an urban oasis in the middle of LA. Try one of the trails in this 338 acre retreat, or stroll through the Japanese gardens, then hit the ten station workout course! If you want an extra challenge, try a hike that brings you up to some of the most breathtaking views of the city. 4100 South La Cienega Blvd.
Another favorite spot is Rueben Ingold Park, located on a bluff on the North end of View Park and just adjacent to Baldwin Hills, where you can walk, or run, and enjoy great views of Kenneth Hahn Park and the La Brea Greenbelt. 4400 Mount Vernon Dr, sunrise to sunset.
The view from the top of the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is worth climbing the steep, straight staircase! Don’t worry, you can always wind back down via the more mellow pathway in the 58 acre park. 6300 Hetzer Rd. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=22790
Here’s to a healthy and happy 2018 — don’t forget your sunscreen and water bottles : )
