Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season
In the spirit of the holidays, we suggest an alternative to the typical gift-giving, to offer gifts with meaning. This incredible article from the NY Times lays out ways you can donate to help those in need. $20 can buy a flock of ducks for an impoverished Bangladeshi family through Heifer International, while giving to Deworm The World can help the one-quarter of people worldwide that have worms in their bellies (children can be dewormed for about 50 cents each). Remote Area Medical is an organization of volunteer dentist and doctors that help those who cannot afford medical care. See other ways that you can literally save a life:
Our hearts go out to all those who’ve suffered loss from the devastating Southern California fires this past month, and here are ways to help, both virtually and in person. It can be as easy as texting UWVC to 41444, which will donate to the Thomas Fire Fund via Ventura’s United Way. Local charities are accepting donations, or you can give to Ventura’s Humane Society, who is housing over 100 animals, by clicking on their Amazon wishlist page.
