Valentine’s Day in South LA

Love is in the air…but are you ready? There’s only a week to go until Valentine’s Day! If you haven’t made any plans, we’ve got you covered. We’ve planned out a fun-filled romantic day in our neighborhoods that will show your partner how much you care! Enjoy!

Start the day with a hike up the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook in Culver City, named by TimeOut as one of the best hikes for dramatic views of the city. Get your heart rate up with a short but intense walk up the stairs and be rewarded with views of LA’s east-to-west spine including Downtown’s skyline and Century City high-rises with the Santa Monica Mountains in the background.

Or start your day with mindfulness and calm with a visit to the Peace & Labyrinth Gardens in West Adams. Visit the meditation garden, walk the labyrinth or take a tour of the historic villa.

Preparing a home-cooked breakfast? Then stop by the Farmer’s Market at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza for farm-fresh produce, delicious artisan goods and flowers.

Alternatively head to one of our go-to sandwich spots, Orleans & York in View Park, for one of their famous Po’Boy sandwiches, recently named one of the best sandwiches in the city by Eater LA. Or try the newest, hottest chicken restaurant in town, Hotville Chicken at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.

Walk off your lunch and treat your partner (or yourself) to a speciality item from Cultural Interiors in View Park. There’s a lot to choose from jewelry to home decor, created by artists from around the world including the Caribbean, West Africa, Japan, Mexico, South America and Indonesia. While you’re in the area, pop into Audacity Studio, a men’s haberdashery and grooming salon where you’ll find great specialty gifts, suits, and upscale men’s accessories.

Or take in the latest exhibition at Art + Practice in Leimert Park, Collective Constellation, a selection of artworks by women of color from the private art collection of philanthropist, art collector and A+P co-founder, Eileen Harris Norton.

Finally, cap off the day with a romantic meal at one of the many amazing eateries in our area. Enjoy the oxtail and cocktails at Californian soul food venue, Alta Adams in West Adams or try the new hot spot in Culver City Roberta’s in Culver City. We love their pizzas!
