The annual Marina Del Rey Boat Parade tomorrow, Saturday 14th, is one of the most popular Christmas events on the Westside. Head to Fisherman’s Village or Burton Chace Park to watch the festivities that start at 5:55pm with fireworks, followed by 70+ boats gliding through the marina with lights, decorations, and music, competing for categories like Best Theme, Animation and Best Lights.

This Sunday, December 15th, 11am-4pm, celebrate the Jewish festival of light at the Skirball Cultural Center while enjoying music, dance, art making, and tasty treats! Get in the holiday spirit with the whole family at the annual Hanukkah Festival with musical performances by Klezmer Juice and Zingarella, arts and crafts workshops and storytelling sessions.

Would it be the holidays without The Nutcracker? A perennial Christmas favorite, there are numerous productions around the city but we like the rendition from the Long Beach Ballet which is one of the only area productions that includes not only a live full orchestra, but a horse, flying sleigh and pyrotechnics. A bit further afield but definitely worth a visit is Enchanted: Forest of Light at the Descanso Gardens in La Canada. The botanical garden’s fully immersive experience has 10 illuminated installations with atmospheric, luminescent forests, all against a background of uplit trees and shimmery sound effects. Looking to lace up your skates? Take your pick from gliding in the midst of DTLA skyscrapers and some of LA’s iconic buildings at one of the biggest ice rinks in the city, at The Bai Holiday Ice Rink Pershing Square. Or if you would prefer a bit of beach with your skating experience, try ICE in Santa Monica, an 8,000 square foot rink only five blocks from the beach.
