Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year

How Are You Spending The Last Days of the Year?

The Ahead of the Curve Homes team hopes you had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones and safe travels as 2021 begins to draw to a close. What gift are you happy to have received this year? Did you have a great time with family? What are you looking forward to in 2022? With New Year’s just a handful of days away, we’re here to help you get ahead.

This New Year’s may be ushering in a guest we weren’t expecting: Omicron. Los Angeles has seen a significant rise in cases of the Omicron variant and have already taken measures to move in person events online. Los Angeles’s New Year’s Celebration has gone online and will stream the event live. California continues to see cases emerge during this season so take extra precaution if you feel so.

“According to a Times analysis of state data, San Francisco is reporting 192 coronavirus cases a week for every 100,000 residents as of Tuesday, a 315% jump since Dec. 1. The rate for Los Angeles County is 198, a 170% jump; and Orange County’s rate is 102, a 49% increase over the same time period.”

With Omicron spreading, perhaps a smaller scaled down New Year’s is in everyone’s best interest. Gathering at home or a friends home with close friends and family is lovely! This year may be the one to steer away from bars and clubs. Without invading your own boundaries, we will err on the caution of staying in with a smaller crowd. We have a few suggestions if you’re looking for some New Year’s help.

  1. Decorate – With the spread of the Omicron variant and concerns over a potential lockdown, emotions are at an all-time high – but there’s no reason why you can’t celebrate safely from the comfort of your own home and create the perfect party atmosphere with these decorations. There is plenty of glitz and glamour to be found at Target for the New Year’s celebration. Whether it’s a black tie vibe or need a timeless banner, you can’t go wrong with the Spritz NYE Decorative Party Banner ($5). Hang this against a wall for fun photo moments. We know your holiday party look will be absolutely fab, but the Spritz NYE Wearable Party Tiara ($3) takes it to the next level. These Spritz New Year’s Eve Balloons ($5) are perfect for creating a fun photo moment on your walls. Create a variety of designs featuring black and silver balloons and two star-shaped “Happy New Year! 2022” balloons.

  2. Cook a Meal – Having a small amount of guests over? These yummy bite-sized party appetizers are the perfect starter for any type of party—and the perfect excuse to throw one! Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip One taste of this outrageously delicious hot spinach artichoke dip and your guests will not stop eating it until it’s gone. How about a Almond-Bacon Cheese Crostini? Or some Bacon-Stuffed Mushrooms? Rashanda Cobbins from Taste of Home is here to get you inspired on your party appetizers.

  3. Football – The 2021-22 bowl schedule has been announced, and it looks to be a three-and-a-half week extravaganza over the holidays. The postseason will culminate with the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 10, 2022 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The CFP semifinals will return to New Year’s Eve, with the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowls serving as this season’s locations. No. 1 Alabama will face No. 4 Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl at 3:30 p.m. ET with No. 2 Michigan vs. No. 3 Georgia in the Orange Bowl following immediately after at 7:30 p.m. If you’re a big football fan, New Year’s could be the night to tune in.

  4. Blast The Music – Perhaps with a new speaker from Christmas, you’ll have to get the tunes going. The end of the year playlists deserve to be put on full volume and enjoyed. Music is the final touch to any party, adding that extra atmosphere. Unsure if your music is okay for the crowd? Youtube, Spotify, and Apple Music all have great New Year’s playlists easily available for streaming. Dance your way into the New Year!

May this year come with lots of laughter, abundance of blessings, and may all of your wishes come true. Let’s toast to all of the wonderful things ahead of us in 2022 and let us reflect on all that we accomplished this year. Wishing you all joy this upcoming year. Have a Happy New Year from our team to you.
